ASUS joins the race by announcing ZenFone 5Z, ZenFone 5 and ZenFone 5 Lite smartphones at the MWC 2018 in Barcelona. In addition, apart from the flagships, the brand also introduced a toned-down variant of last year’s ZenFone Max Plus (M1) named Zenfone Max (M1).

The Zenfone Max (M1) will be available Deepsea Black, Sunlight Gold, and Ruby Red. However, availability and pricing details remain unknown as of now but we can expect soon as the launch gets closer.

Features and Specifications


As for the aesthetics, the device flaunts a metallic finish with 2.5D curved glass on the front and a fingerprint sensor on the rear. It features a 5.7-inch Full View HD+ display bearing a resolution of 1,440×720 pixels and 18:9 aspect ratio.

The smartphone is offered in two chipset variants – one sporting 1.4GHz Quad-Core Snapdragon 425 SoC mated with Adreno 308 GPU while other one sporting 1.5GHz Octa-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 SoC mated with Adreno 505 GPU.

Memory and Storage department will be offered in 2GB RAM and 16GB onboard storage as the base variant alongside 3GB RAM with 32GB onboard storage as the top-end variant. Both the variant get expandable storage up to 256GB with microSD.

The Asus ZenFone Max (M1) packs a dual-rear camera setup which includes a 13MP primary sensor with f/2.0 aperture, dual-LED flash, and PDAF alongside an 8MP secondary sensor with a 120-degree wide-angle lens.


While the front gets an 8-megapixel sensor as well, with a f/2.2 aperture. Notably, the camera specifications can vary as per region.

Moreover, it is fueled by a massive 4,000mAh battery with ASUS PowerMaster technology. According to the brand, the battery offers 41 hours of backup on standby, 36 hours of 3G talk time, up to 23 hours of web browsing and 16 hours of video playback. In addition, the device also gets reverse charging support.

The operating system on the device is said to be ZenUI 5.0 based on Android Oreo and comes with face unlock feature as well.

Finally, for Connectivity it gets 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n (dual-band, 2.4GHz, and 5GHz), Bluetooth v4.0, GPS/ A-GPS, Micro-USB, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
